“AAA” AXEMEN TAKE SEMI-FINAL OVER WESTISLE

#2 TOSH over #3 WESTISLE in SEMI-FINAL, 62-46

#2 TOSH vs #3 WESTISLE
The first quarter had both teams struggle shooting and ended 12-7 for Axemen. A series of defensive turnovers and solid rebounding let the Axemen move out to a 32-19 lead at the half. Ben MacDougall led TOSH with 8 points and 8 boards, 5 offensive while 3 players had 5 each for the Wolverines - Jonathan Smith, Morgan Brennan and Logan Dawson.
 
The Wolverines could not get their offense in gear and after three, TOSH led 50-27. A 14-4 run brought Westisle within range of the lead but missed foul shots and a trey by Sahib Singh left the Axemen ahead 57-43 with 3 minutes to play and they won 62-46.
 
Tops for Three Oaks: Vlersim Musliu 16 points, MacDougall 11 pts and 11 boards,7 offensive,  and Spencer Rossiter 9 points
Tops for Westisle: Caleb Dawson 19 points, Chris Ramsay 11points,,  Brennan 8 points and Smith 5 points and 13 boards.
 
The Axemen will move on to the gold medal game Tuesday,  8pm at UPEI,  and Westisle will be in the 4pm bronze medal game also at UPEI.
