Morell Marlins defeat Montague Vikings to move on to "AA" Gold game

The game was a tight contest to start with both teams trading buckets back and forth. Montague started out hot from 3, with 15 of their first 20 points  from beyond the arc. Morell kept pace all the way with drives to the hoops and taking advantage of getting to the free throw line. With it 22-20 after the 1st quarter, Morell was able to keep up the offensive pressure and build a bit of a lead, 45-33,going in to half. After half Morell was able to keep the lead with some tough defence and big buckets from Isaac Compton, Thomas Craig, and Diego McGarry leading the way. Morell had the lead at 59-41 going in to the 4th quarter, but Montague put a big push on offensively, getting lots of second chance points. It was a fight right to the end, but Morell was able to hold on for a 75-64 win.

Morell's attack was led by Isaac Compton's 23 and lock down defence. Diego McGarry hit keys shots, scoring 23 and Thomas Craig, with 17 points, 9 rebounds and great defence all night.

Montague was led by sharpshooting Jack Munro, with 17 points. Hunter Wight and Alec MacDougal punished the paint, scoring 15 and 13 respectively. 

Morell now goes for 'AA' Gold vs Bluefield 1 at Holland College Monday at 8pm and Montague will face Charlottetown Rural 2 for 'AA' Bronze also at Holland College, 4pm.
