Westisle Repeats As Senior Baseball Champions!

Westisle repeats as PEISAA Senior Men’s Baseball Champions
Defeat Bluefield in a close Gold Medal match-up
Semi Final #1 
Bluefield 6, Charlottetown Rural 1
Guided by a strong pitching performance from Brandon Langley, the fourth seed Bluefield Bobcats defeated the top seed Charlottetown Rural Raiders, 6-1 in semi final action at Memorial Field. Langley who threw 6 1/3 innings held Charlottetown Rural to just two hits while giving up one run and striking out eleven batters for the victory was relieved by Ben Tsai for the final two outs. Nick Havenga contributed with a third inning sacrifice fly to open the scoring and later added an RBI single to go 1-3, Jordan Maher was 2-3 with a base on balls, Chris MacDougall went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s. Tyler Taylor threw the distance for Charlottetown Rural giving up all six runs, four of which were earned, while striking out nine Bluefield batters. Taylor & Sam Worth had Charlottetown Rural’s two hits.

Semi Final #2 
Westisle 6, Montague 2
A timely 2 RBI triple from catcher Cole Robinson generated a five run fourth inning for Westisle who cruised past the Montague Vikings 6-2 in Tuesday’s 2nd place vs 3rd place semi final game. Chandler DesRoches contributed with three hits for the Wolverines while Connor Ellsworth (2), Mike McRae, John Dorgan & Declan Campbell added offense. DesRoches pitched six solid innings while striking out twelve was relieved by Ellsworth. For Montague, ace Jack MacKenzie went the distance in the loss, giving up five earned runs on nine hits while fanning six Westisle batters. Jack Munro had a productive day at the plate going 2-3 with 2 RBI’s.

Final 
Westisle 2, Bluefield 0
A complete game four hit, thirteen strikeout performance from Connor Ellsworth led the Westisle Wolverines to their second consecutive championship. Nathan Grigg & Carson MacArthur added two hits each while Chandler DesRoches went 1-3 in the win. Despite obtaining the loss, left-handed pitcher Myles Grant had a strong six inning outing, only giving up five hits, while striking out eight. Nick Havenga, Jordan Maher, Connor Hennessey & Josh Smith provided hits for Bluefield.
