Souris Men Win AA Basketball Title!

Souris men held off Ch'town Rural to win Gold at the PEISAA Senior AA Basketball Provincials held at Holland College and sponsored by Domino's Pizza. Montague got by Bluefield for the Bronze. For more info on the games, click on Read More.

Gold Medal Game

RURAL#2 vs SOURIS:
1st Q: Souris 11, Rural 10 >>Tyler Taylor had 6 for Raiders while Matt Antle and Isaac Chaisson each had 4 for the Spartans.
2nd Q: The fast-paced half ended with the Spartans ahead 27-24 with both teams spreading out the scoring .
3rd Q: 42-36 Souris
 
4th Q: With 4:22 to go, Souris led 52-41., and rolled to a 69-56 victory and the PEISAA Senior "AA" Men gold medals. Ch'town Rural captured the silver medals.
 
Tops for Souris: Matthew Antle 25, Isaac Chaisson 14, Steven Acorn 13 and Daniel McIntosh 8
Tops for Rural: Alex Ryan 16, Matt Linzel 11, Carson Gray and Ethan Sprague 8 each

Bronze Medal Game
MONTAGUE vs BF#2:
20-19 Montague: 3 treys by Jack Munro plus a hoop for Vikings and MacKenzie Plouffe with 8 for Bobcats were top point-getters in  1st Q: 
2nd Q: 35-31 BF
 
3rd Q: Both teams struggled to make shots in the third quarter with a 6-6 tie with just 3 minutes left. A flurry by Vikings in last minute saw a quick 6 and they took a 43-41 lead into final quarter.
4th:With 4:20 minutes left the score was 51-49 Montague  with Gary Llewellyn hitting for 3 consecutive hoops and answered by Carson Doiron's trey and a hoop by Plouffe.
With 53.2  seconds the score was tied at 58  after 4 points by Montague's Jack MacKenzie and hoops by Plouffe and Hunter Prus.for the Bobcats. After miss by Montague Bluefield had ball with 18.9 seconds to play but last second shot went wide, leaving the game tied at 58-58. 
Overtime:::5 minute overtime:
4 points by Jack MacKenzie put Montague on top but Prus hit a foul shot and Doiron a three with 52 seconds to tie. A defensive turnover by MacKenzie sprung Alex MacDougall for a contested layup with 1.8 sec to go to garner the victory 68-66.
Tops for Montague:Munro 17,MacDougall 16, MacKenzie 12, Llewellyn 11
Tops for  Bluefield: Doiron and Plouffe 16 each and Nick Havenga 14.
